SILENT TERMINATION Somewhere in the distance a rumbling can be heard Steadily approaching Yet no one breathes a word, foreboding A shred of hope beyond existing The charred remains of our fate Will soon reveal to all this impending doom Theoretically we’re out of the room This timeless wavelength must be our rune Careless chaos of our fiendish dreams Has dispelled all hope for sanctity Forever shattering the spectrum of synthetic immortality We terminate…we terminate…we terminate A silent termination No longer satisfied to live this life of catatonic fear inside A framework of crystallized desire The will to live exceeds the fear to die Have we lost the human element in search for articulation? Will logic be the savior of this emotional situation? Taking refuge in the tempest eye Our foes awaken the sleeping giants The threshold of pain begins to rise We continue to remain silent We terminate…we terminate…we terminate A silent termination Are you on our wavelength? Is the data incomplete? Communication overload… Repeat…

JOURNEY OF THE BLIND Another chapter in life comes to a close With no regards for sanity Something no one knows Tomorrow’s an illusion, reality the same What once were only yesterdays are memories No one to blame Frigid thoughts are my disguise for peace of mind The mirror always tells the truth, no matter how unkind Promises are never kept, yet never seem to learn Embarking on a mystery, the tables have turned Will tomorrow bring back yesterday on an icy path of fate Will I fall from composure when I realize it’s too late? Or maybe life’s cold tragedies are the only ones I’ll find Either way I stand to lose myself on the journey of the blind The scars remain long after time has healed the wounds The winds of change are blowing cold, singing different tunes The sands of the glass are flowing beneath the solid shell What once the secret shadow held, now casts a vicious spell Here I stand, chained to the perils of my own existence Entombed forever within this crypt of reflection, immune to time and space A thousand moons I have witnessed And surely this is enough for the span of one man’s life My only release comes from the dark hand that beckons me Through the dimly lit corridors of unrighteousness From perfect grief there need not be wisdom or even memory What was and is shall occur once more… So mote it be. Will tomorrow bring back yesterday on an icy path of fate Will I fall from composure when I realize it’s too late? Or maybe life’s cold tragedies are the only ones I’ll find Either way I stand to lose myself on the journey of the blind

UNIVERSAL FEAR Falling through the stratosphere Rain on Earth seven nights Wanderers and drifters Flock to the impact sites On the eighth day, Gods awaken to observe religious swarms Returning to their children Vengeance in its purest form Down from the night skies, Unbeknownst they appear Mechanical demons Raging through the atmosphere Civilians divert attention to the apparent alien hordes Still oblivious to their intentions We see we’ve been forewarned By writings on dark cavern walls Deep within ancient crypts We have ignored it blatantly The warning of the apocalypse Interrupted darkness Of the most intrepid kind Illusions that are fortified By infuriated skies History unfolds as opposing forces Clash and synthesize The carnivorous legions stalk their prey With hunger in their eyes Bloodthirsty and relentless They form their killing wave Humans fall helpless There is no one to save Down from the night skies Unbeknownst they appear Mechanized death crashing Through the atmosphere Aliens invade every city Infiltration by cover of night Darkness falls on the streets There is not one human in sight To destroy the human race And inhabit our very land Is their goal, for we have forgotten The touch of their extended hand Terrestrial annihilation… Could this be our fate? Terrestrial annihilation… We see it’s much too late Terrestrial annihilation… A universal fear Terrestrial annihilation… Mortality ends here!

about

INVID’s roots stretch back to 1989 when Jere Jameson and Chuck Brummond would leave Altoona, Pennsylvania after the collapse of the short-lived thrash metal ‘supergroup’ DeadZone. However, after relocating the band to Pittsburgh the project would begin to fall apart leaving Jamieson and Brummond to begin all over again with all new players. But not all would be from the ground up, the duo did have a theme, style, look, and sound in mind that they wanted to have with the new band. And they even had a name, INVID.

Jameson’s friend and former Bird Of Prey bandmate Matt Rudge was recruited to fill the second guitarist position for that twin guitar attack. Both had also previously played with bassist Jason Myers who would also be brought on board. A search for a singer and frontman was now on. It would prove short due to Myers knowing a local musician named TJ (Tommy James) who could command a stage and had a versatile vocal range and could hit those high notes.

After the line-up was finalized, INVID continued working on new songs. Jameson and Brummond had developed the framework for the band’s identity with early demos of songs like “Denial of Mercy”, “The New Dark Ages”, and “Universal Fear”.

“We wanted to incorporate the aggression of thrash with the technical aspects of progressive metal while keeping the straightforward power and hooks of classic metal, all wrapped up in a package of dystopian future sci-fi.” -C. Brummond

The line-up changed once again when Jameson, a founding member would leave to join the Army followed shortly by Matt Rudge heading off to college.

“This one-two punch put INVID in a challenging position and it wasn’t entirely clear if we could keep the project going, at least not without compromising our initial vision.” --C. Brummond

INVID had come too far and made too much progress to abort the mission so they would adapt. TJ took over the second guitar position while still handling lead vocal duties. His friend Shawn Cray stepped in on drums. This four-piece line-up would last for around a year until yet another change in the line-up would occur when James and Cray would depart leaving only Brummond and Myers to carry on.
The two would then join forces with three Pittsburgh-based musicians: vocalist Michael DeGrena, guitarist Michael Chiccitt, and drummer Keith Hurka. Chiccitt had recently left a death metal band to put together a more traditional metal band.

It was 1991 and the band wasted little time in going into the recording studio to track a three-song demo. The demo was shopped to network industry conventions and mailed out to every metal label. The band was finally firing on all cylinders and earning a reputation in the Pennsylvania club scene opening for touring legends like Fates Warning and Vicious Rumors as well as headlining their concerts. Their cassettes and merch sold well regionally as they received airtime on college radio like Pitt’s station WPTS where they were often guests. The following year INVID return to the studio to lay down two more tracks. Soon after the five members would move to South Florida and try to immerse themselves in the once-thieving metal scene there. However, they would discover that the once vibrant scene was dimming quickly. Eventually, the members of the band one-by-one would leave the band.

INVID stormed onto the underground scene in the late ‘80s and by the mid-'90s the band had dissolved back into the metal cosmos never to be heard from again (until now).
